Raw Material Source:

Glucose syrup derived from bioengineered corn. The corn contains genetically modified and non-genetically modified varieties of corn. Cultures of the mold Aspergillus niger are fed on a glucose-containing medium like molasses or hydrolyzed corn starch. After the mold is filtered out of the resulting solution, citric acid is isolated by precipitating it with calcium hydroxide to yield calcium citrate salt, from which citric acid is regenerated by treatment with sulfuric acid.

Applications: Acidulant, Chelating effect, Buffering effect, AHA properties (moisturizing, peeling, smoothing, anti-wrinkle effects)

Key Properties:

Acidulant: Useful to adjust the pH of products, making them more acidic or less alkaline.

Chelating effect: Neutralizes minerals to enhance the activity of antioxidants and preservatives.

Buffering effect: Helps maintain the pH between 2.5–6.5 and stabilizes active ingredients.

AHA properties: At high concentrations, shows typical alpha hydroxy acid properties, providing moisturizing, peeling, smoothing, and anti-wrinkle effects.

Applications: Creams, lotions, shampoos, shower gels, bath bombs/fizzes (combined with sodium bicarbonate).
