Usage Rate: Typically 2% to 10% (can be used up to 20% in specialized dermatological products, subject to local regulations).

Solubility: Slightly soluble in water; readily soluble in glycols (like Propanediol or Propylene Glycol) and warm alcohols.



pH Stability: Most effective and stable in formulations with a final pH between 4.0 and 5.5.

Multi-Target Active: Acts as an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and melanin-inhibiting agent all in one.

Versatile Synergy: Highly compatible with niacinamide, salicylic acid, and soothing botanical extracts (like butterfly pea) for advanced barrier-repair and clarifying formulas.

Gentle Exfoliation: Provides a milder alternative to strong AHAs, making it suitable for sensitive skin product lines.

Usage: These higher concentrations are regulated and typically require a prescription from a dermatologist.

15% Concentration: Most commonly formulated as a gel and officially approved for the treatment of Rosacea (e.g., the brand name Finacea). It is highly effective at reducing inflammatory papules and pustules.

20% Concentration: Most commonly formulated as a cream and approved for the treatment of Acne Vulgaris and melasma (e.g., brand names Skinoren or Azelex). It acts as a strong antibacterial and comedolytic (pore-clearing) agent.
