Target stubborn discoloration at its source. This advanced brightening treatment interrupts the pathways that lead to dark spots, melasma, and post-blemish marks. Unlike harsh exfoliating acids that can strip the skin barrier, this gentle powerhouse delivers visible, radiant results while keeping your skin calm and hydrated. It is your daily defense for a perfectly even, luminous complexion.
INCI Name: Tranexamic Acid
Appearance: Fine white crystalline powder
Usage Rate: 2% to 5% for standard cosmetic formulations (clinically effective starting at 2%).
Solubility: Highly soluble in water. Insoluble in oils.
pH Stability: Exceptionally stable; best formulated in a final pH range of 3.0 to 8.0.
Unmatched Stability: Unlike L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) or Kojic Acid, Tranexamic Acid does not oxidize easily and resists color shifts or degradation in the final product.
Exceptional Synergy: Creates powerful brightening complexes when formulated alongside niacinamide, alpha arbutin, or mild botanical extracts.
Broad pH Tolerance: Maintains its efficacy across a wide pH range, making it highly adaptable for various cosmetic bases.
Because Tranexamic Acid works by interrupting melanin production pathways in the skin, it requires time to absorb and is almost exclusively used in leave-on products.
Aqueous Serums: This is the most common and effective format. Lightweight, water-based serums allow the ingredient to penetrate deeply and quickly.
Toners and Essences: Used as a daily, gentle brightening step immediately after cleansing.
Emulsions (Creams and Lotions): Often combined with emollients and barrier-repairing ingredients to treat dry, mature, or melasma-prone skin.
Spot Treatments: Concentrated micro-formulas applied directly to post-acne marks or sun spots.
Note on Wash-Off Products: It is generally not recommended to include tranexamic acid in cleansers or bar soaps. Because the product is rinsed off quickly, the active does not have enough contact time with the skin to be effective, making it an inefficient use of a premium ingredient.
Usage Rates
Standard Range: 2% to 5% by weight of the total formula.
At 2%, it is clinically proven to reduce hyperpigmentation. Going above 5% in standard cosmetics typically does not yield faster results and can increase the risk of skin irritation.
