Hair Bleaching: Acts as an effective oxidizing agent in hair color and bleach formulations, helping to lift pigment and achieve shades with precision.

Teeth Whitening: Used in professional-grade teeth whitening preparations for its strong oxidizing action on stains and discoloration.

Skin Brightening Formulations: Incorporated in controlled concentrations in certain skin-lightening creams and serums to help reduce the appearance of dark spots and uneven skin tone.

Oxidizing Agent in Cosmetic Chemistry: Serves as a key reactant in the synthesis of other cosmetic-grade compounds and peroxide-based formulations.

1. Hair Bleaching & Lightening- Barium Peroxide acts as an oxidizing agent in hair bleach formulations. It reacts with an alkaline activator (typically ammonia) to release nascent oxygen, which breaks down melanin pigments in the hair shaft.

Usage level: 2% – 8% in the final bleach powder or cream formulation

Leave on for 20–45 minutes depending on the desired lift level



2. Teeth Whitening- Used in professional-grade whitening gels and strips as a peroxide source to oxidize stain molecules on enamel.

Usage level: 1% – 3% in whitening gel formulations

Typically combined with carbopol or glycerin as a carrier base



3. Skin Brightening & Depigmentation Creams In controlled formulations, it helps reduce melanin synthesis and lighten hyperpigmentation.

Usage level: 0.5% – 2% maximum in leave-on creams or serums

Must be buffered to a skin-safe pH (5.5–7.0) and combined with soothing agents like aloe vera or niacinamide
