🧴1. Liquid Soaps and Cleansers (Viscosity Building)

When working with anionic surfactant systems—especially those utilizing Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) or similar foaming agents—sodium sulfate is used to thicken the liquid. It alters the ionic strength of the water, forcing the surfactant molecules to pack closer together, which increases the viscosity.



Preparation: Do not dump dry sodium sulfate directly into your main batch, as it can clump or take too long to dissolve. Instead, create a 20-25% aqueous solution (e.g., 20g of sodium sulfate dissolved in 80g of warm distilled water).
